The Harmonic Series

Hello. I'm a Calculas II student in a small university. I'm on a
mission to find out the direct relationship between the harmoic
series (sum(1/n)) and music. This seems to be a place to ask, so if
you could explain it or point me in a good direction to find, I will
appreciate it very much. Thank you.

this is sort of an open-ended question . . . but your best bet is
probably to begin by joining the tuning-math group,

tuning-math@yahoogroups.com

and asking Gene Ward Smith, an accomplished mathematician with an
excellent grasp of music theory. stick around here as well --
interesting things may turn up, particularly if you dig through the
archives and ask questions.

i'm sure many interesting discussions will result . . .
